# Monthly crates and pouches

Give portable monthly crates and configure bundle or quantity pouches.

Monthly crate items are portable, single-use collections of prizes. Pouches are portable items that draw rewards from an existing crate's pool. Both can use cinematic reveals, and their appearance and contents are configurable.

## Try a monthly crate

Use an installed monthly example, or open `/crates editor` → **Create crate** and enter one of these IDs:

| ID                   | Reveal                                 |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| `monthly`            | Monthly Celebration                    |
| `monthly-winter`     | Winter wave                            |
| `monthly-spring`     | Spring helix                           |
| `monthly-haunted`    | Haunted double ring                    |
| `monthly-cosmic`     | Cosmic galaxy                          |
| `monthly-skyfall`    | Prizes descend from above              |
| `monthly-forge`      | Prizes move through a forging sequence |
| `monthly-masquerade` | A shuffling prize board                |

Give the item to an online player:

```
/crates give YourName monthly-skyfall 1
```

Right-click the item or use it on a block to begin its opening. It is consumed once, and the guaranteed prizes plus random draws are delivered after the cinematic. The item lore shows its contents and draw odds.

The monthly examples are hidden from the ordinary `/crates` selector by default. Use `selector-enabled: true` if you want one available to preview there; opening it still requires the portable item.

For portable monthly items, use `/crates give`. Use `/crates givechest` when setting up a permanent ordinary crate station.

## Opening examples

These recordings show different monthly reveal effects. The pack, item movement, particles, sounds and text can be configured independently.

## Configure the prizes

Open `/crates editor`, choose the monthly crate, and edit its reward pool and bundle settings. Each definition is saved in `crates/<id>.yml`.

These root settings control the portable opening:

```yaml
consumable-crate: true
bundle-min-rewards: 3
bundle-max-rewards: 5
bundle-unique-rewards: true
guaranteed-rewards:
  - guaranteed_food
cinematic-pack: monthly-skyfall
```

The guaranteed IDs must exist under `rewards:` in that same crate file. They pay once in addition to the random draws and are excluded from the random pool. A guaranteed reward can have `weight: 0`. Choice and chained rewards cannot be guaranteed.

The source reward's permissions, plugin requirements and limits still apply. If a required guaranteed prize cannot be awarded, the item is kept. Portable crate items replace the normal key and economy cost; crate cooldowns, allowed worlds and calendar restrictions still apply.

## Make it a calendar reward

The word “monthly” is a theme; a monthly claim restriction is optional. Add these settings at the crate file's root for one opening per calendar month:

```yaml
monthly-claim-limit: 1
monthly-timezone: UTC
```

Use a time zone such as `Europe/London`, `America/New_York`, or `Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh` if needed. The allowance resets on the first day of the next month at midnight in that zone. `monthly-claim-limit: 0` disables the restriction.

An administrator can reset one player's allowance:

```
/crates monthly reset YourName monthly-skyfall
```

Optional `available-from` and `available-until` use inclusive `YYYY-MM-DD` dates in the configured time zone.

## Try both pouch modes

```
/crates pouch give YourName bundle 1
/crates pouch give YourName quantity 1
```

Right-click a pouch to redeem it. The supplied **Adventurer's Pouch** makes several independent reward draws. The **Prospector Pouch** selects one reward and grants it several times.

Create or edit pouches with `/crates pouch editor`. Each pouch uses `pouches/<id>.yml`:

```yaml
id: bundle
display-name: '&dAdventurer Pouch'
material: LEATHER
crate-id: basic
mode: BUNDLE
min-rewards: 3
max-rewards: 5
unique-rewards: false
cinematic-pack: festival
show-reward-receipt: false
```

Use `mode: QUANTITY` to repeat one selected reward. The whole reward repeats, including its items, money, commands, keys and reroll credits. Set `min-rewards` and `max-rewards` to the same value for a fixed number.

Pouches require no source-crate key or economy cost. Their reward permissions and limits still apply; calendar claims, cooldowns, pity and opening milestones belong to ordinary crate openings. Choice prizes resolve to one eligible option and chained prizes are excluded.

Rewards go directly through the configured inventory policy. The optional receipt menu is disabled by default; enable `show-reward-receipt` only if you want a menu after delivery.

See Pouch files, Crate files, and Cinematic packs for all settings.
